When I read that La Mafia , along with Jay Perez and Emilio y Rio , was going to be performing at a Cinco de Mayo event in BEAUMONT, TX, I really thought I was seeing things. I mean we're talking the "Golden Triangle" (Beaumont , Port Arthur, and Orange) is not exactly Tejano Country, more like Cajun Country (right on the border of Louisiana. There was no way that I was going to miss a show just 20 miles away from my hometown (of Orange) This was the first EVER Cinco de Mayo event to be held at this venue, and man were the fans in for a real treat. Jay and Emilio had put on great shows and man oh man when La Mafia came on it was incredible. I could tell that most of the people in the crowd (with the exception of those who had made the 2 hour trip from Houston) had never seen them before, except on TV, and they were totally awestruck. Watching their reactions reminded me of the very first time I saw La Mafia live, but then every time I see them it's like the first time ;-) |
