From the dramatic opening through the encore it was an electrifying show that left jam packed crowd wanting more. Joe began his amazing solo with all lights on him, next you hear the bass joining in and then you see a smiling Rudy , followed by Tim (who was looking H O T) joining them on guitar and Mando and David ( looking so cute in their matching black jackets , red shirts and matching red tennis) making their entrance and taking their places at their respective keyboards on each side of the stage and joining in, it was just so impressive. The crowd was screaming and going wild. By the time Oscar took the stage the screams were deafening and women were chanting Oscar , Oscar Oscar, and one woman shrieked "Oscar I loooooooove you".
When Oscar started out with the chorus of "Como Me Duele Amor" the crowd took over , just belting it out, then Oscar started at the beginning of the song and La Mafia continued to bombard us with their awesome music, giving us hit after hit with the crowd singing along on every song. The guys, energized by the crowd were smiling moving around all over the stage interacting with each other and the crowd. When they did the medley of Cornelio songs, I was cracking up at Rudy who was behind Oscar mimicking the crowd by swaying back and forth. Women were climbing all over the stage, and man. oh man I thought I was going to have to climb up there and rescue Oscar from one of them LOL.
For me the highlight of the night was "Si Quiere Dios". This song is a song that has a lot of meaning for Oscar and I knew, when I saw him take off the hat and put on his serious face, that it was coming up next. I wondered if he would mention Selena , and he did. He also dedicated the song to everyone who had lost someone. Oh man he always puts so much emotion into that song, and Friday night he outdid himself. As many times as I've seen La Mafia bring crowds to tears with this song , I thought I was immune to it, BUT what with this show being the night after the Selena tribute and knowing what a dear friend she was to "my boyz" she was on my mind and I kinda lost it for a minute.
They continued to captivate the crowd with more of their awesome hits and closed the show with "Un Millón de Rosas". As they left the stage the crowd was screaming "OTRA OTRA OTRA..." . As the other guys were going back to their instruments, Oscar led the crowd in the chorus of "Me Estoy Enamorando", oh man, were the people enjoying not just singing but shouting out the lyrics at the tops of their lungs, then the guys started playing , and they did the entire song as the crowd continued to sing along. Immediately after they finished the cries of "Otra Otra Otra... began again, but unfortunately there was not enough time for a second encore. But like I always say, no matter how many encores they do , they always leave the crowd wanting more.
