When I went to Houston for the Oscar de la Rosa Foundation Jingle Bell Bash, I had not planned on staying the next day, BUT when Mando invited me to the show that La Mafia was putting on for the kids, there was just no way I was going to miss it. It was an honor and priviledge to share that moving experience with them. Seeing the joy on the faces of those kids is something that I will never forget, I see why this is something La Mafia looks forward to doing every year.
I got there as they were setting up for the show, and as I watched the kids being moved into the area, most in wheelchairs or on crutches, some even hooked up to IVs , I'm thinking, what a thrill for them to have a private performance by an awesome , internationally aclaimed band, BUT I had no idea what the guys had in store for them. It wasn't just a performance, it was a P A R T Y, they had the kids involved in the show from the moment they opened with "Feliz Navidad" and had them all singing along . |
