You would think that as many times as we have seen La Mafia, that at some point it would become routine, but each La Mafia experience that we have had has been unique. This trip to the Rio Grande Valley, to the tiny town of Mercedes is a trip that 2 city girls (myself and Siciliana) wil l never f orget. It was an escape to another time, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Mercedes is the kind of place where people wave at you as they pass you on the road, and strike up conversations with you wherever you go. And everywhere we went the topic being discussed was La Mafia's return to the Valley after almost 2 years.
And they came from miles around, from all over the Valley and from the other side of the border to see La Mafia. As much as I love being on the front row when they play, and as much fun as it is to be backstage, I was in awe when I found myself in the middle of that beautiful crowd, people of all ages, small children on their fathers' shoulders. It was a beautiful cool (for July in South Texas anyway) night, with a full moon overhead , the wind blowing in our hair, and La Mafia on stage. What more could you ask for? You could just feel the love in the air. The crowd was spellbound and it was almost as much fun to watch them as it was to watch the show. Almost LOL
