Austin, TX is known as the "Live Music Capital of the World". What better place to host the annual South By Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival ? The SXSW showcases hundreds of bands in a five day period with shows all over downtown , from Austin's famous 6th Street, to the outdoor events held on the huge Town Lake Stage at Auditorium Shores. That is where the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) event was held. The NARAS show, featuring Costumbre, Control, Palomo and headlined by La Mafia was a huge success. They had expected a crowd of 10,000, BUT (we heard backstage), more than 20,000 people showed up for the event. All the groups put on outstanding shows and had the fans worked up and you could feel the excitement building in anticipation for La Mafia's show as the enthusiastic crowd continued to swell and when La Mafia took the stage the screams were deafening. |
