The Dallas Trinity Fest had been billed as the biggest 4th of July celebration in the history of Texas. Commercials had been running on TV and radio and the newspaper for a week. It was to be an all day event featuring carnival rides, a spectacular fireworks display, and a diverse lineup of entertainment throughout the day. The three main acts were Motown legends The Commodores, Country Superstar Randy Travis and LA MAFIA!
We got there when the gates opened (as Oscar had urged us to do in the interview with KICK FM's Pancho Pistolas the day before). As the first band began to play I staked out my front row spot with a few fans who also had taken Oscar's advice. By the time the second band finished, the crowd had grown much larger. As the Dance Remix of "Push Push" began playing over the speakers, I turned around to see that the crowd had swelled to an enormous size. The crowd was cheering wildly as the guys began entering the stage one by one. And when they started playing the crowd began to chant "OSCAR, OSCAR, OSCAR........
We could hear him singing before he appeared, adding to the anticipation, and you should have seen the reaction of the crowd when Oscar emerged wearing this cowboy hat.
I had to chuckle when I saw him in that hat because, on the KICK FM interview the day before, I could see a straw cowboy hat on the table (I was watching on the webcam), and Pancho was teasing him about it and Oscar goes "Man don't make fun of my hat". And then the very last shot on the webcam showed him picking it up as if he were about to put it on. I was like "don't tell me he's going to wear THAT hat at the show" LOL, but I've got to admit he looks adorable in it.
Speaking of the KICK FM interview, I thought ya'll might get a "KICK" out of seeing the webcam shots that I "captured". Click on the KICK logo to view them in a separate browser: |
