When I heard that LA MAFIA would be performing in Houston on February 10th, I marked that date on my calendar. There was no way I was going to miss THE PRIDE OF THE NORTHSIDE performing in their hometown for the first time in almost two years. I knew they would make it a special show for their hometown fans. And boy did they ever. They came on a little after midnight and played until 2:00am non-stop, playing hit after hit, mixing in several songs from the awesome new CD with hit after hit going back to the 80's with songs like Quiero Quiero, and Yo Quiero Ser, etc, all the way through the present. And we got to see Oscar and Lili sing the duet, Eres , from the new CD. They closed the show with "Me Estoy Enamorando" with the crowd singing along and swaying to the music. It was an awesome energetic and emotional show. After the show, as usual, they stayed and signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who asked. |

There are no words to describe how honored I felt when my friend Willie told me that Oscar had asked him to call me and let me know that he had personally added my name to the guest list. For Oscar to think of me and to include me on a list with La Mafia Family members, and long time close f riends at a show in their hometown is a gesture that I'll never forget. |

When my friends Sig, Willie (and their guests) and I went backstage, Leonard was the first person we ran into. For those of you who are brand new La Mafia fans, Leonard Gonzales is Oscar's brother and was a founding member of La Mafia. He has his own group now,Leonardo y Los Magnificos. Their first CD Siempre Cuenta Conmigo was nominated for a Grammy. |
